Original Platform Priority: Consumer Rights

Before all the craziness of 2025, in January we thought that Consumer Protections would be our main platform, with Worker Protection coming in second, Civil Rights as third (should be higher), and common-sense approaches to citizen wellbeing, national financial matters, national defense, and foreign policy matters.

Since the events of early 2025, we have obviously taken a turn toward supporting the Constitution in general, and specifically the Bill of Rights, due process, and checks and balances.

Still, we must not forget the reasons we began our journey:

- Insurance companies should not deny if two doctors request
- Gig app companies must refund customers with proof, must pay drivers living wage
- Banks must offer to cancel subscriptions with 30 day notice
- Books/music bought online are yours to (personally) keep
- Right to repair
- Net neutrality
- Rental property rights (fair to LL and tenant)

... and so many more...

All these things have one thing in common: consumers are not getting fair results in their purchases.

Whether we are exchanging money for goods or services, or exchanging our time and labor for wages, fair trade practices should ensure all parties act ethically.

COMMENT QUESTIONS:

Consumer rights is a huge subject: PayPal, Stripe, Amazon, DoorDash, fast food, auto repair, government services (not to be Karens about it but services are paid by taxes), apartment rental, vetenatians, home contractors, "professional" services, and of course one-sided nonsense "Terms and Conditions."

In all these ^^ areas consumers get less than fair treatment.

Sometimes it's so brazen that not even the CURRENT government can stop "predatory towing" and (predatory) DoorDash/Uber from charging insane prices and providing a middle finger afterward. (Apologies. I get going about this.)

There are so many issues, here are the major CATEGORIES we've identified.

Did we miss any major categories?
